About the Personnel, the building, the equipment, the programming department. Help needed!
A troubled personnel!
We are disturbed by the loss of our colleagues Marlene Joseph, Ginor Desplumes, Jude Marcellus.
We are paralyzed by the urgent departure of the administrative assistant and secretarial pool coordinator Natacha Dorfeuille, of the tele Lumiere programming coordinator Marie Lourdes Pascal, and Linda Jean Gilles our main news anchor. Ms. Jean Gilles was in the USA before the earthquake. She is still there for personal reasons.
Most of the offices housed inside our Cote Plage building are functioning rather chaotically. The tape library was a big mess after the earthquake. Tapes, CDs, and records were all over the place.
The office of “Club des preteurs,” Companion in Ministry and TV programming are deserted for they were affected the most by the earthquake.
The on air studio was transferred to a tent outside (in the courtyard) the day after the quake.
Our Cote Plage building was not structurally affected but our staff is afraid of what could happen to it during one of the after shocks. So we have moved our offices to the courtyard temporary structures. Even the accounting office is located under the trees outside.
The receptionist receives visitors outside, the newsroom, the cafeteria operate outside as well. We are grateful that those who engineered the Cote Plage complex left plenty of empty space outside. The alternative is the streets! I am sure they (the founders) never thought that the staff would use the courtyard as shelter today! Right Pastor Walker?
The first two weeks after the event we had to modify our programming. We are back to pre-earthquake programming now with the exception of some segments that are normally taped. Most of our show hosts are too scared to get in the recording studios, which are located inside the building. Our operators are not very enthusiastic to go in the recording studios either. Pastor Bataille was the first to bravely accept to record his show “L’heure missionnaire” inside control room #3 (CR3) on February 10.
SOS!
If there is a time when we ever desperately needed your donations, it is now!
Friends of Radio Lumiere are ruined, business people, factory workers sales women alike. Supporters and companions in ministry are in need. The network of radio Lumiere is having a terrible time financially. Instead of reducing the staff, the management has decided to implement a cut in salary. Therefore, dear friends from abroad we have to count on you for help! We have done our best to accompany you wherever you are on the planet; we hope that you will do your best to keep us going in these difficult times. The Haitian people need our light. We have all sorts of needs to keep the radio going and to support our employees and volunteers!
You who live abroad, more than ever you can hold Haiti Cherie close to your hearts. Every contribution you make to Radio Lumiere is a step you take in closing the gap that exist between Haitians abroad and those living in the land.
